Every year, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) under Combined Graduate Level (CGL) conducts examinations to hire candidates for different positions. One such is the central excise inspector post. The Excise Inspectors are those who deal with excise duty under the Central Board of Excise and Customs. (CBEC) falls under the Department of Revenue under the Government of India. The location of the work completely depends on the requirement and ranking of the job. In many cases, examiners are posted in coastal regions and far away from the home town. Selection Process for the post

The most common selection process of the central excise inspector is the SSC CGL entrance exam. This exam is conducted to check the ability of the potential candidate in different areas. The candidate will need to pass the prelims and main written exam. On the basis of the score in prelims and written exam, candidates will be called for the interview.

The overall prelims examination is of 200 marks covering MCQs. The candidate needs to cover 5 papers including- General Studies, English, Arithmetic, Language, Communication Skill and writing. You need to prepare well for both- the written, prelims and interview. During the interview, you will be tested on the ability and overall personality.
